Firmness is personal—what feels right can vary from sleeper to sleeper. That said, there are a few simple guidelines that can help point you toward your best rest, starting with how you sleep.

Stomach sleepers typically benefit from a firmer feel. We often recommend avoiding pillow tops and focusing on mattresses in the Firm to Extra Firm range to provide the support needed to keep the spine properly aligned.

Back sleepers tend to do best on a Firm to Medium mattress. This range offers the right balance of support and pressure relief—helping keep the neck and back aligned while gently cradling key pressure points.

Side sleepers usually feel most comfortable on a Medium to Plush mattress. Many side sleepers prefer a pillow top for added softness, as extra pressure relief around the shoulders and hips can make a meaningful difference in overall comfort.

These guidelines help narrow the search, but the best way to find your perfect fit is through a Sleep Mapping Appointment with one of our experts—so your mattress is tailored to you, not the other way around.

Innerspring mattresses, often referred to as traditional spring mattresses, are the most established and widely used mattress type. They feature a supportive coil system topped with comfort layers designed to cushion and support your body throughout the night. Innerspring mattresses are especially well-suited for back and stomach sleepers, but they can also work well for side sleepers and those who change positions during the night.

Hybrid mattresses blend the best of both worlds—combining the support of an innerspring system with the pressure relief of foam. A hybrid features multiple layers of foam, often including memory foam, placed above a coil support core. This design offers a balanced feel: the contouring, “sink-in” comfort of foam paired with the responsiveness and subtle bounce of an innerspring. Hybrids are a great option for all sleep positions—back, side, stomach, and combination sleepers alike. They also tend to have a smoother, flatter surface compared to the more traditional quilted or tufted tops found on classic innerspring mattresses.

Manufacturers organize their mattress collections into Levels or Series. As you move up, each level builds on the last, adding more premium materials and comfort features.

There’s no universal solution. The best mattress depends on how you sleep, where you feel pressure, and how your body needs support. Our sleep specialists help guide you to the right fit.

Most sleepers need 2–4 weeks to fully adjust. Your body is adapting to improved support and alignment, which is completely normal. We always recommend giving your mattress time to do what it’s designed to do.

A King mattress offers wide, shared sleeping space—perfect for couples who want room to stretch out together. A Split King is made up of two Twin XL mattresses placed side by side, allowing each sleeper to customize comfort or use an adjustable base independently. A California King is slightly longer and narrower than a King, making it a great option for taller sleepers who want extra legroom.

Each option offers a different kind of comfort. We’re happy to help you choose the one that fits your space, sleep style, and lifestyle best

Most quality mattresses last 8–10 years. We’ll help you choose a mattress built to support you night after night.

The right size depends on your space, sleep habits, and whether you share the bed. For individual and couples needing space, consider a King or Cal King. For kids, a Twin or Twin XL should be enough. We’re happy to help you choose what fits both your room and your rest.
